Alongside the driftwood and shells are plastics & microplastics lining our local coastline. They threaten delicate ecosystems, ocean life, and wildlife that call the ocean home. This project is a small way to raise awareness, and donate to charities working towards advocacy, ocean clean-up, and conservancy. A percentage of profits of each piece are donated to ocean conservancy charities.
The colorful plastic often stands out among the more muted colors of the ocean and sand. If a storm has passed, you can find little pieces floating in the puddles. It gets covered and uncovered in the soft sand by the changing tides. It’s not hard to find though, it’s everywhere on our beaches and coastlines both local and world-wide.

I photograph and collect what I find during regular beach walks (often with 3 dogs in tow), it is then cleaned, dried, and separated.

The pieces of plastic are arranged into “mini mosaics” and encased in resin to create tiny, permanent works of art and as a reminder of the importance of ocean conservancy. A portion of each piece goes directly to one of the charities or foundations that specialize in ocean conservancy.
